Liverpool and Wales’ Joe Allen is believed to have been undergoing a medical at Stoke City today, ahead of his proposed £13 million move to the Britannia Stadium.
The Reds decided to accept Stoke’s offer, with Allen only having one year remaining on his contract.
It is also understood that Allen’s former club, Swansea City, are also interested in the signature of the 26-year-old, but they look set to miss out.
Allen left the Swans in 2012, and they have already had an £8 million offer rebuffed, despite the player keen to return home to Wales.
Allen only started on eight occasions for Liverpool last season, but an impressive Euro 2016 campaign in France, which saw him named in the ‘team of the tournament’, has left him with plenty of keen potential suitors.
An announcement may be made today if pen meets the paper, and we will reveal Allen’s official destination as soon as we know for sure.
UPDATE: Signed, sealed and delivered. Allen signs for the Potters on a 5-year deal.
