Hodgson to give fringe players a chance in Carabao cup tie

James Tomkins has been touted to playRoy Hodgson has pledged to give some of his Crystal Palace fringe players game time, when his side face Bristol City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

The game at Ashton Gate could see the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Mamadou Sakho and Luka Milivojevic rested, as the former-England manager keeps one eye on guiding the Eagles up the Premier League table.

Wales international Wayne Hennessey is likely to start, whilst defenders James Tomkins and Martin Kelly have also come into contention for the game.

Hodgson’s provisional squad is as follows:

Provisional squad: Speroni, Ward, Dann, Van Aanholt, McArthur, Cabaye, Schlupp, Townsend, Loftus-Cheek, Tomkins, Hennessey, Fosu-Mensah, Puncheon, Riedewald, Kelly, Kaikai, Chung-Yong, Delaney.
