Chelsea’s Willian edges closer to Arsenal switch

Chelsea midfielder Willian is reportedly close to agreeing a transfer to fellow London side Arsenal.

The Brazilian international, who turns 32 this Sunday, is out of contract with the Blue once Frank Lampard’s side’s Champions League campaign comes to a closure.

Which, having lost 3-0 in the first leg, will most likely be this weekend.

If you are planning to back Chelsea when they face Bayern Munich in Germany tomorrow, you can download the new app for BetVictor odds and back them at an attractive 7/1.

Should the move go through, Willian will join fellow former Chelsea player David Luiz in North London.

Lampard’s Blues did offer the midfielder a new deal, but were unwilling to match the three-year contract that is rumoured to have been offered by Arsenal.

Willian missed Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat to his potential new side last Sunday with an injury, and will not be part of the squad that faces Munich tomorrow.

Having joined from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for £30m in 2013, Willian has gone on to make 339 appearances for the Stamford Bridge side, becoming a fan-favourite in the process.

He has won five majour honous whilst a Chelsea player, including two Premier League titles and a Europa League winning medal.

He has also won the club’s players’ player of the year award twice.
